Hello,
I updated J5.1 to J5.2 and the mailer stopped working: Trying a test email on Administrator > Global configuration > Server, then PHPmail says "could not instantiate mail function", where Sendmail says "Could not execute: /usr/sbin/sendmail". I'm sure PHPmail worked minutes before, not just the <send test mail> function but a response to a new user registration.
I checked and PHP was 8.1 at my webhost (Hostinger), I updated it to 8.3. That gave me still PHP8.2 in the System Information, so I deleted the PHP-setting line from the (very old) .htaccess file; now System Info shows I have PHP8.3.8.
I've emptied all cache, logged in & out, and a few similar rituals to no effect.
Any suggestion where I should seek? An error log I can consult? Any help appreciated.
M.
[Third option: SMTPmail says nothing but no output gets sent; only when I try TLS auth on SMTP I get an error (which may lie on my side, wrong port or whatever).]
